This is a classic trek which covers approx 300 kms circumnavigating the entire Annapurna massif. The trail starts in the middle hills at the village of Besi Sahar and follows the Marsyangdi river through Gurung settlements to the Tibetan regions of Manang. The high point is the crossing of the Thorung-La Pass at 5416m, the trek then continues down the deep Kali Gandaki gorge.
This trek offers a true cross section of Nepal from lowland rice plantations, deep pine forest and spectacular mountain views to arid terrain in the Himalayan rain shadow. You can visit old Buddhist monasteries and take a dip in the hot springs along the way.
