Meditation has been practiced in many forms, in many cultures and faith backgrounds throughout the world for many years.  Interest in the West has grown considerably towards the end of the last century and into the present one.  The benefits of regular practice are increasingly recognised, from reducing stress and blood pressure to increasing creativity and general well-being.

Meditation is a very simple thing to do, but many people find it difficult, for many reasons.  The basic principle of meditation is to sit down, turn the attention inwards and focus the mind.  The practice of this simple process, however, is harder.  Finding the time, knowing when to do it, where to do it, what to wear, what to focus your mind on, etc etc.  There are numerous books, courses and “gurus” to give advice and guidance on how to start your journey to begin this process.  The purpose of Retreat Travel meditation holidays is to help clarify some of these issues and guide you on your journey, in the beautiful setting of the meditation retreat centre at Pokhara.

Many of the techniques used in meditation practice come from Buddhism, so what better place to gain more experience of these techniques than the home of Buddhism, Nepal.  Retreat Travel holidays are not intended to convert anyone to anything, least of all the Buddhist faith, but who better to learn these ancient practices from, than some of the worlds experts, in their own country.
